Why should I opt out of Meta AI training ?

Starting June 2024, Meta has said in their Privacy Policy, that it is using info from your chats and posts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp to train its AI, even using photos of non-users if shared by others.

This has prompted several legal fights over data scraping, that is considered free-game for the major AI companies. In the meanwhile, if you reside in a jurisdiction that grants you such rights, you might want to opt out, if you’re not confortable with Meta using your data.

How to delete your Facebook account and personal data ?

If you opt out of AI processing, that does not mean that Facebook no longer keeps your personal data. It has just stopped using it to train their Meta AI models. The only way to get your data deleted from Facebook is to delete your account.
