All sites on Squarespace are currently accessible to AI crawlers which are allowed by default to scan the content on the site for training purposes. Some of these crawlers include GPTBot and ChatGPT-User, Anthropic AI, Claude-Web, PerplexityBot etc. This guide will show you, step-by-step, how to stop AI from training with your data on Squarespace.

Four steps to opt out of AI training on Squarespace

  • Step 1: Login to your Squarespace account
  • Step 2: Open the “Settings Panel
  • Step 3: Click on “Crawlers
  • Step 4: You'll find a box with the words “Block known artificial intelligence crawlers” next to it. Check the box to stop AI from training with your Squarespace site data.

What to do when a company is holding your data

You can find out if a company is holding your personal data by sending a data deletion request. However, you can only do this one at a time if you do it manually. It would be impossible to do this for over a hundred sites for example. Do not worry, though. Against Data has a tool that can help send data deletion requests to as many companies as possible in just one click. Here's how to use it:

Visit againstdata.com

    1. Sign-in with your Gmail account
    1. Discover which companies have your data
    1. Ask for deletion with one click.
